...is a myth!!
I recently discovered that the Ghoulia in the Gloom Beach exclusive set that my husband bought me for Christmas had eyes that were two different sizes! ARGH. I hunted and hunted for GB Ghoulia sets all day and finally settled on one. HER eyes aren't perfect either but at least they're on the same level. Even so, I'm going to have to paint them some to make them look good, and the Cleo in the set with the best Ghoulia is TOTALLY WALLEYED so I'll have to get another GB Cleo at some point...
Sounds frustrating, right? Well I also found out that the Draculaura in the DotD 3-pack I'm getting for Christmas had one eye sneaking up her face, and I ALSO had to hunt around for a replacement 3-pack for that today, too!!
I went to TRU today and was excited to see that they had a TON of Clawd/Draculaura sets in, because I've been looking for it everywhere. However, after looking through them all, I realized I couldn't buy any of them. Their eyes were either sliding off their faces or on totally different levels. And if the Clawd in the pack looked good, then the Draculaura looked terrible. If Draculaura looked good, then the Clawd in the pack looked terrible! I'm sooo frustrated right now!
I wish all MH dolls were packaged individually so I'd have an easier time picking them out. When they're packaged together, it makes it that much more difficult for me to find a set where both dolls (or three, or all five) are excellent quality. I...I hate exclusives. ;_;
You guys have any horror stories?

Wow! I'm so sorry you ended up having to hunt down NEW dolls for your Christmas gifts. It seems that Mattel is really skimping out on quality control compared to earlier releases. When I purchased my Home Ick Frankie from Target, I had to dig behind in the back to find one that had level eyes as well! I hope they get on it soon....>_<

That's horrible. They do need better quality control, especially with the dolls being so expensive. I'm afraid now to order any from online.

I found an individual of GB Cleo to replace the one in the 5 pack in my collection. I guess I'll use the wall-eyed one as a custom or something. Those eyes have got to go! Aggh, grassshackgirl, unlevel eyes are the WORST, aren't they? Some of the first dolls I bought were pretty awful. The Deuce/Cleo giftset I first got had Deuce's eyes printed badly (one was a lot higher than the other) and the Deuce also had a tear in his ear-plastic and a red nick in his glasses. It seems like no matter how ultra-picky I am, I barely ever walk out of the store with a perfect doll! Hmmm...maybe the lighting in the doll aisles is bad. XD And then everyone looks at me like I have 3 heads when I return a MH doll, but that's another story... I was really expecting better quality when I started collecting these!

aww... maybe i'm not so picky- but i haven't really noticed issues with any of mine... then again.. i primarily started collecting to customize so i wasn't too concerned with faces.... albeit that hasn't happened yet... mattel really should work on some sort of quality control, though... MH line seems to always be a bit ridiculous.

I've just recently noticed that my Holt has some slight wonk-eyes going on as well. There's NO ESCAPE. I suppose the plus side is that all the wonk-eyed dolls on the shelves have helped me keep my resolution of no new dolls until after Christmas. Right? Right?!! Ugh, wonk-eyed GB Ghoulia... what a nightmare! D:

MH can have some serious QC issues, especially with the characters' eyes!
A whole slew of my dolls have the one-eye-slightly-larger-than-the-other defect, which I don't really mind too much. Eyes that are completely off-level and have one floating in a different direction, however, bother the crap out of me! It's obvious how much derp is going on.
I received a week ago, from Amazon, a Toralei (now returned for a much better replacement) whose facial stripes and eyebrow screening were done at an angle and made her face looked crooked. That had to be one of the more bizarre painting defects that I have seen.
