Hope everyone is having a happy thanksgiving- i just popped over to check on the forum and thought i'd wish all those celebrating a good holiday weekend... and for those of you going out shopping- good luck! although i'm basically a vegetarian (with the exceptions of marshmallows and the damn fish sauce at my local sushi restaurant) i came out to visit the immediate family- made myself a quorn brand turky and ate sweet potatoes, veggies, mashed potatoes and veggie gravy and am getting some sweet family time. i'll celebrate thanksgiving with my fiance on saturday... and black friday i plan on spending in the printmaking studio at skool. (catch up time before the school year ends) christmas trees at my place are already up (thanks to my awesome fiance) so we don't have to worry about setting up christmas stuff yet... though we still have to make a fake fire-place... what have you done/are you doing? Do you go traditional turkey route on thanksgiving or what sorts of family traditions do you have?

My mom is making the basic Thanksgiving stuff along with Tofurky for me! Which makes me feel like the worst stereotype, but Tofurky is good. We don't really have traditions other than "eat all of the things" (how American) and, sadly, "watch football." I can't stand football. Ò_Ó
But it's awesome that my mom accomodates my herbivosity. I'm telling you, every year it takes all of my willpower not to eat the turkey liver. My mom hates it but used to cook it for me and my dad (now just for dad). Birds, why must you have such delicious livers???

aw, i rarely miss real turkey anymore but i know the feeling of missing it- though, not liver... hehe. have you ever tried the Quorn brand turk'y roast? oh, it is so good! plus a little mushroom gravy or chkn type gravy (whatever floats your boat)... I can't wait for my Saturday thanksgiving... i think we're going to start a new tradition... bean tacquitos, enchiladas, and tacos for our thanksgiving <3 we'll see... ugh i hate football too. the fiance's family watches football and such and the only sport i can watch is UFC fighting...

Happy Thanksgiving GHOULS! Just finished work at second job; will be getting ready soon to go to my grandma's house for dinner, then come back home to have dessert with the in-laws. Tomorrow, unfortunately I have to work at my first job. Hopefully I have the weekend off; holidays are tumbling along FAST! Lol, can't stand football either! Luckily, none of the family watches. digits taquitos, enchiladas, and tacos sounds like a DELICIOUS thanksgiving! ^_^ A little OT, but I'm sooo mad! I had an Abbey waiting to be ordered on Amazon for $19.95, and was looking for something else to buy so I could qualify for the free shipping ($25 or over qualifies). I took so long trying to decide what else to buy, that the seller ran out of Abbeys within 5 minutes, and she shot back up to $50!!!!! Grrr, now I'm checking Amazon every 10 minutes to see if she'll go back down.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! The husband and I did. We made dinner for the two of us - cornish game hens, stuffing, cranberry, mashed potatos and gravy, zucchini, rolls, pumpking and chocolate pies, and fudge. Lol. Then we went to the movies and drove around to watch the people waiting in line for Black Friday.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, too!
I cut my thumb open on a pie filling lid on Thanksgiving, pretty deeply. Almost went to the hospital, but decided not to. I'm sure I wouldn't have been seen until I was old and grey anyway. I bet the amount of people coming to the hospital over cooking mishaps on Thanksgiving is sizeable. XD
Other than that, Kevin and I had a great Thanksgiving. We went over to our friends' house and spent the day with them and their kids and I ate so much PIE. <3
My family doesn't have any Thanksgiving traditions, other than "eat" lol. We don't watch football. I'm so glad no one in my family likes it!
Staying at home and cleaning and working on art jobs today. Black Friday crowds? No thanks. Crowds tend to give me panic attacks anyway. Angry crowds are even worse!

grasshackgirl- hope you get abbey soon... things can go out of stock SO FAST it's amazing! ...and it sucks... i got another toralei on amazon and the whole time i was trying to find something else i thought she'd be gone... luckily i have super-saver shipping items in my 'wishlist'... i stock up on things that will probably never go out of stock and that i don't necessarily need right away but would like in the future and just hold them in my wishlist until i need to make a fast purchase. so i bought a pop-up christmas book (my childhood version got ruined after my sister was old enough to play) with my toralei. hahaha!
lyte- i'd MUCH rather watch people in the lines than be in them myself, too! it was ridiculous at 11pm last night the people lined up outside of some stores!!! glad you had a great thanksgiving!
princessjes- OUCH! i hope you ate enough pie to get back at that stupid can. haha. crowds piss me off... even being out in traffic in my little town today (i think we're at 150,000... but i swear EVERYONE was out. ) i felt my blood pressure rising.

dIGITS: I am a freak of nature who only misses gross meat. Never liked beef, never liked pork, never liked chicken... but I sorely miss bird livers, smoked oysters and sardines in mustard sauce (not all together). I've never even heard of the Qourn brand! Tofurky might become a tradition for me--I've been vegan for about five years but only tried it last year, and it was so good that my mom got it this year, too.
The only sport I can watch is The Running of the Leaves on Friendship is Magic!

So glad everyone had a good Thanksgiving! Mine was quite nice! My parents had dinner at their house for us, which was a first. They usually make my son and sister and I go to my fathers family for Thanksgiving. Which sucks because his whole family is full of douchebags. Was a nice change for this year. Afterwards my son went up to his daddy's house for the night. My boyfriend and I got drunk, played Magic the Gathering, and Katamari into the wee hours of the morning.
FUN TIMES!
