In my experience, Monster High dolls can be difficult to come by. It's hard enough to find the ones that aren't exclusive (I've yet to see Rochelle anywhere), but exclusive ones make the hunt even more difficult and frustrating for collectors.
Well, apparently Mattel seems to enjoy causing us pain because they're releasing a bunch of exclusive dolls this year. Many of them are set for release during the "holiday" season, so I'm guessing they'll start hitting shelves in October.
Here are the exclusive sets and where they can be found once they're released:
Scarah Screams and Hoodude (San Diego Comic Con 2012 exclusive):
Scarah Screams and Hoodude were the Monster High 2012 San Diego Comic Con Exclusive dolls. They could be purchased by attendees of 2012 San Diego Comic Con and they will be available for purchase at MattyCollector.com for a limited time.
The Coffin Bean 2-pack (Costco exclusive):
The Coffin Bean with Clawdeen included is widely available. The Coffin Bean set with both Clawdeen and Draculaura is a Costco exclusive.
Draculaura's Roadster (JC Penney exclusive):
Draculaura's Roadster without the Draculaura doll is widely available. The roadster with the doll included will be a JC Penney exclusive.
I <3 Fashion Frankie Stein and Abbey Bominable, (Toys R Us exclusives):
I <3 Fashion Frankie Stein and Abbey Bominable started appearing at Toys R Us in late June and July of 2012. Each doll come packaged with three different outfits. Each sold separately. These dolls do not come with stands.
Draculaura's Powder Room (Toys R Us exclusive):
This set is widely available without the Draculaura doll. The set that comes with the doll is a TRU exclusive.
Ghoulia's Scooter (Toys R Us exclusive):
Like Draculaura's powder room, the scooter will be widely available without the Ghoulia doll. The set that comes with the doll is a TRU exclusive. This set includes Sir Hoots-A-Lot, a helmet for Ghoulia, a helmet for Sir Hoots-A-Lot, a drink, and a backpack for Ghoulia. This set does not come with a stand.
Werecat Sisters 2-pack (Toys R Us exclusive):
This TRU 2-pack can be difficult to track down, but they were officially released in February 2012. This set comes with purses but it does not come with stands.
Sweet 1600 C.A. Cupid (Walmart/ASDA exclusive):
This Walmart/ASDA exclusive was "officially" released in February 2012, around Valentine's Day. She suffered from poor distribution at first but now she's being found in Walmarts with a little more regularity. Sweet 1600 Cupid comes with a purse and a stand.
Dot Dead Gorgeous Abbey, Draculaura, and Ghoulia 3-pack (Walmart/ASDA exclusive):
Each doll in this 3-pack is an exclusive! They started being seen in stores in August 2012.
Ghouls Rule Abbey Bominable (Walmart/ASDA exclusive):
GR Abbey started appearing in stores August 2012. Like the other GR dolls, she comes with a party treat, a mask, a Halloween candy-carrying pumpkin, a comb and a stand.
Killer Style Clawdeen and Operetta (Kohl's exclusive):
Unlike KS Draculaura and Frankie, KS Clawdeen and Operetta appear to be new versions and not reused dolls. Their outfits are the similar to Clawdeen and Operetta's latest fashion packs, though Clawdeen's outfit was changed to a dress instead of a shirt and pants.
Though the website where I found these pics lists these dolls as a Kohl's exclusive, I imagine these will be popping up anywhere you found the last line of Killer Style dolls. Justice, Big Lots, grocery stores, etc.
Roller Maze Abbey and Ghoulia 2-Pack (Kmart exclusive):
Roller Maze Ghoulia is a wide release. Roller Maze Abbey is a Kmart exclusive and comes packaged with RM Ghoulia. This set started popping up in July 2012. It does not come with stands.
Werewolf Sister 2-pack (Target/Argos exclusive):
This set includes Signature Howleen and a new version of Clawdeen. The set was officially released in March, but distribution has been scarce. This set does not come with stands.
Skull Shores 5-Pack (Target/Argos exclusive):
Skull Shores Ghoulia and Draculaura are already widely available. Skull Shores Frankie is also widely available, though only in black and white.
Skull Shores Cleo, Clawdeen, and (in color) Frankie are Target/Argos exclusives. This set does not come with stands.
Scarily Ever After line (Target/Argos exclusive):
These dolls started appearing on shelves in late July 2012. They're packaged individually. They each come with a purse, a storybook, a brush and a stand.
That's all the exclusives for 2012 that I can think of. I'll update this thread if any more appear.
